Hindu Wedding Valparaiso
I met Roshni and Parth in September 2019 for an engagement session in Michigan city. It was a windy wet day at the beach. Originally this couple did not plan on having their wedding in Indiana. They were excited about a large destination wedding they had planned. Unfortunately like so many 2020 couples, Covid 19 had new plans. I was surprised, but happy to get a call to photograph their wedding in Valparaiso in May.
The day started at Ogden Gardens in Valparaiso with an intimate first look and some family photos. There are few wedding traditions I enjoy more than the Hindu colors and culture! Days of work and preparation go into the bridal preparation and normally there are a few days of festivities. Roshni and Parth had to adapt and keep the wedding small and spread out, but there were so many special emotional moments as we started the first look and family photos.
I think every wedding photographer loves the bright colors at Hindu weddings. I know I get excited every time I book a Hindu wedding!
The Ceremony
Thanks again to Covid 19 the ceremony was moved to an empty home and only a few family members were physically present. Several guests were online watching the live stream and after the ceremony it was wonderful watching the interactions as people all over the world talked and shared in the happiness. I guess one big bonus of all the changes is the huge leap forward in Zoom and video conferencing to groups.
The ceremony started with dancing and music before moving inside. Once inside the room was full of color and joy. Elements of food, fire and flowers make Hindu wedding ceremonies fun to photograph.
Here are some favorite photos from the day.
