If rain on your wedding day really is lucky, then welcome to a very lucky Wicker Memorial Park Highland wedding.
Abby and Karl had two wonderful venues for their fall wedding. Fall can be a tricky time for weather. It almost seems we only had a week or two of fall this year. The colors started turning, and then bam! Two weeks later it was gale force winds, sleet and rain and even snow!
When I arrived at the house in the morning to get some photos of the girls, I knew we were up against some crazy weather coming in. I made sure we got outside asap for a few photos with the girls before it rained.
These girls were tough as nails. It was about 40 degrees outside and the rain was coming, but we got a few quick photos in five minutes before we ran back inside as the rain started. It did not really stop for the rest of the day.
Once we were out of the rain and inside St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Whiting, the rain was a distant distraction. This sanctuary is just stunning. As soon as I walked in I had this photo in my mind. I knew the floors would reflect from a low angle and make for a dramatic photo. I had to balance my camera in my shoe to get a nice steady position for my camera so I could do a long exposure. The longer exposure allows me to use a lower ISO setting and get a cleaner image in low light.
