Wedding Sand Creek Country Club Chesterton
What a crazy weather day this wedding was! Rain is always a challenge on wedding day. Thankfully Sand Creek Country Club has a lot of great indoor space and a covered outdoor entrance, so it was not too hard to work around the rain. But when you throw in crazy wind, humidity and tornado warning sirens most of the day and you have a really interesting wedding day.
Melissa & Joshua were incredible to photograph and the weather did not affect the joy they radiated all day. The best thing about the weather was the incredible sunset that filled the sky with dramatic color. We were able to get outside for ten minutes at sunset and take advantage of the sky and the color. The puddles from the rain made awesome reflection photos a creative option too.
St Paul Catholic Church in Valparaiso was the venue for the ceremony. It is a wonderful venue with stunning stained glass windows.
After the ceremony we raced to Sand Creek Country Club and tried to beat the rain. We managed a few quick photos before the rain arrived, but soon we were under the main entrance canopy taking formal photos while tornado sirens wailed in the distance. I have learnt from working here so often that we can get outdoor photos in the rain and by using a wide aperture the rain is hardly visible in the background.
Thankfully the weather kept changing and we were eventually able to get back outside for some wonderful formals before the reception.
The reception was a lot less crazy being indoors away from the elements.
