Gabis Arboretum at Purdue Northwest Engagement Photos – Meet Morgan and Matthew!
It always makes me smile when couples ask if it is ok to bring a dog to their engagement session. They generally explain how rowdy the dog is and express hesitation in asking. My answer is alway yes! Heck I lost my first digital camera to a charging leopard and have been chased by elephants, swam with elephants and worked extensively with wild lions. So I’m pretty cool with most dogs haha. This fun guy was no exception.
Gabis Arboretum at Purdue Northwest is not only beautiful year round, it is also incredibly photographer friendly! Not many places have such a well organized photo permit process. An online purchase offers instant access and the mailed card is cool. I have no problem supporting their venue by purchasing a permit. It’s valid for a year and reasonably priced.
Morgan and Matthew started in dress outfits and we did some photos in the wooded areas before changing into more casual clothes and moving out into the fields. Gabis Arboretum at Purdue Northwest offers diverse backgrounds with paths and fields and water. I advised doing the photos with their dog in more casual clothes. he looked active. He was haha.
The sunsets are generally stunning out here and we took full advantage of a great one!
Anyone can shoot silhouettes. They require little technical skill, but they always look great so I do some. I like to mix silhoettes and traditional photos at sunset. Some off camera flash and creativity delivered some great dramatic shots too.
If you are looking for more cool engagement photos, here is a gallery of my favorites.
Morgan and Matthew are getting married next year at The Centre for the Visual and Performing Arts Munster. I am looking forward to it!
