Chicago Engagement Session
This is a throwback session from about four years ago, but it’s still a favorite. Nancy and Zach are one of the most photogenic couples I have ever photographed. I know I know, us wedding photographers always have to say nice things haha. But seriously, these two needed very little help looking good. From the moment I arrived for their Chicago engagement session, it was just easy. It is clear to see how in love and how comfortable these two are with each other. I hardly gave them any direction and let them walk around, sit and talk and just be themselves in front of the camera.
They both worked at a local store on Michigan avenue and most of their early time together was at work, so it made sense to do the photos where their relationship started and grew. We started the engagement photos at the store they had worked at and walked around the area a while. I loved that it was close to the old water tower. This whole area on Michigan avenue is a fun backdrop with endless creative options for photos.
Like many Chicago engagement photo sessions, there can be people to work around, so I chose to use natural light to travel light and work fast. The last thing I ever want to do is have people fall over light stands. Even with an assistant, street photography is most often best with natural light during the day.
Well here are a bunch of my favorites from the day.
