Mirjana & John had an early fall wedding at st Sava Merrillville.
They chose to do a first look outside the church before the ceremony as there was not a lot of time after the ceremony before the reception.
It is always a special feeling capturing the photos of a couple doing a first look on wedding day.
The build up with the groom as he anticipates the arrival of his bride is always exciting. The look on the brides face as she arrives and sees her groom waiting before he sees her.
The tears, the faces, the raw unposed emotion as they see each other. I’ve seen to biggest, toughest men get wobbly knees and weep like babies. I am a firm believer that real men cry haha.
Mirjana totally blew John away and it was a joy to watch them and capture the moment for them.
The wedding ceremony was full of traditional Serbian Orthodox tradition and family participation. It is always a joy to see families incorporate culture and tradition into weddings.
After the ceremony and some toasts with the men, we headed to the reception filled with traditional Orthodox Serbian dancing and live music. There is something wonderful about weddings with live musicians. I love photographing live music and cultural dances are always interesting to watch and easy to enjoy.
Here are some favorite photos from the day!
