Chesterton Wedding Photographer
This is a bitter sweet blog to write. This wedding, this couple and this venue were all incredible!
Sadly two weeks after this incredible wedding The Allure on the Lake burnt down and it sent shock waves through the wedding vendor community, and sadness through out the Chesterton region.
After a very well planned and well executed upgrade The Allure on the lake was turned into one of the most beautiful venues in the region. I cannot fathom the stress for future couples booked here this year and next. I cannot fathom the pain of loss for the owners and staff who took such pride in the venue. It is beyond sad.
On a happier note I am so glad we had a beautiful day and Lindsey and Ryan got to get married here. Selfishly I am so glad I got to photograph a wedding before this tragedy.
The irony of Ryan, a local firefighter, being one of the last couples married here is gut wrenching. I know many brave men and women among the first responders fought to save the venue and fight the blaze.
It is a silver lining that the venue was empty and no one was injured or worse.
Lindsey did not know Ryan had organized a vintage fire engine for some awesome photos. It was tough to keep it quiet as I took photos at the hotel before knowing what was planned haha.
I am sure I am not the only Chesterton Indiana Wedding Photographer who will miss working here again. It will hopefully be rebuilt and be even more beautiful than before. I have no doubt the local community would rally behind any attempts to rebuild the venue.
Here are some favorite photos from the day.
